KAQY ABC11, is the ABC affiliate for the El Dorado, Arkansas/Monroe, Louisiana market, licensed in Columbia, Louisiana. Operates a digital signal on VHF channel 11. KAQY's transmitter is located in Columbia, and its studios are in Monroe.
KAQY signed on December 10, 1998, returning ABC to the market after its previous affiliate, KARD, became a Fox affiliate in 1994. In the interim, ABC programming was available on some cable systems via KLAX-TV from Alexandria or KTBS from Shreveport.
Unlike most ABC stations, KAQY does not currently have a local newscast, instead airing syndicated programs in those timeslots. Everybody Loves Raymond airs at 10 PM; Judge Judy airs at 5 PM; Inside Edition airs at 6 PM. Other syndicated programming currently airing on KAQY includes: Maury, Two and a Half Men, Divorce Court, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Live with Regis and Kelly.
On June 23, 2008, original local owner Monroe Broadcasting filed an application with the FCC to sell KAQY to Parker Broadcasting for $10 million. Included in the application are proposed agreements to allow Hoak Media, the owner of KNOE-TV, to operate the station. The sale was completed on October 9, 2008. As a result, all four major network affiliates in the Ark-La-Miss are now operated by two companies. With the LMA between KAQY and KNOE-TV in place, there is a possibility that KAQY could simulcast or rebroadcast most of KNOE's newscasts.
On Feb 17, 2009 KAQY turned off its analog feed and its digital feed on channel 57 and started transmitting in digital on channel 11.
