Jury Rupin
Jury Rupin (October 1, 1946, Krasnyi Lyman, Ukraine – October 22, 2008, Vilnius, Lithuania) — photographer, artist, writer.
Biography
- Born on 1 October 1946 in Krasnyi Lyman, Ukraine.
- Got the first camera in 1958, started doing photography straight after.
- From 1961 to 1965 studied in Slavyanskiy technical college.
- Soviet army since 1965 to 1968 (Tbilisi, Yerevan).
- From 1969 to 1974 - studied in Kharkov Polytechnical Institute.
- 1979-1985 - studied in Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts.
- In 1974-1976 started a famous art group "Vremya group" ("Time") in Kharkiv.
- From 1971 to 1985 worked as a correspondent for "TASS", "Evening Kharkiv", "Red Flag", Kharkiv advertising combine.
- In 1990-1993 together with Aleksandr Maziuk opens up the first USSR private gallery in Tallinn, Estonia - "MRK".
- From 1994 to 2001 - managing director of the stock photo agency - "Rupincom".
- Died in Vilnius, Lithuania aged 62

Past Exhibitions (1974-1976)
In a very short 2 year period Jury's work has been successfully exhibited all around the world. Many works have collected exhibition awards. In 1976 the KGB has completely sealed any channels of sending Jury's photos abroad after a nude photo was discovered by a KGB agent in a package of photos sent for an exhibition.

The "Vremya group" ("Time"), Kharkiv
- Jury Rupin is the founder of an art group "Vremya group" - well known both in Ukraine and the USSR (1974–1976).
- The group has consisted of such photographers as Eugeny Pavlov, Oleg Malevanny, Aleksandr Suprun, Gennady Tubalev, Boris Mikhailov, Aleksandr Sitnichenko and later - Anatoly Makienko.
