Jungbong
Jungbong (중봉 알파인 경기장) is an alpine skiing area in South Korea. It is located in the township of Bukpyeong-myeon in the county of Jeongseon.
The Jungbong Alpine Skiing Area will be the venue for the downhill, Super G and combined skiing of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. It will accommodate 18,000 spectators.
The men's downhill would start at an altitude of 1,433 m and have a length of about 3.5 km. The women's downhill would use another track starting at 1,380 m with a length of 2,5 km. The finish area is at an altitude of about 540 m, so that the vertical drop will be higher than the 800 m required by the FIS rules.
Some environmental groups are opposed to using Jungbong as an alpine skiing venue, as the vast forested area is currently protected as a nature reserve[1] .
