Julio Becerra Rivero (born 1973, Cuba) is an American International Grandmaster of chess, who lives in Miami, FL. He plays for the Miami Sharks in the U.S. Chess League.[1]
Defected to the U.S. in 1999 and was MVP in the U.S. Chess League in 2006.
Becerra won the Cuban Chess Championship in 1996 and 1998 and played in the Chess Olympiads of 1994, 1996 and 1998.[2]
Mr. Becerra was the Cuban Chess Champion in 1995 and 1998. He moved to Miami in 2005. He quickly became the Florida Champion in 2006, and still holds that title through 2009.
