Julia Hwang is a South Korean–born violinist born in January 1996. She started playing the violin at age 5 however it wasn't serious until aged 7 when she moved to England.
At age 9 she played her first major concert March 5 at the Rotary Club of Bristol Breakfast Centenary Promenade Concert. This took place in Clifton College Chapel and she played the Handel Sonata in D Major. Later that year she was invited to play as a guest soloist with the English National Baroque Orchestra. [1]
She has been praised by famous musicians such as Sarah Chang and Joshua Bell.
Julia Hwang released her debut CD in 2007 and is currently hard at work on the second one to be released later this year [2]
In 2008 she was the winner of the Gregynog Young Musician competition. [3] and was awarded the honour of "Jeune Espoir" (young hope) Laureate at the Concours Internationaux de Musique Academie de Val d'Isère [4]
She currently lives in Bristol England attending Clifton College where she was awarded an academic scholarship.
