He is presently the most senior news correspondent of the network who joined News5 in 1996, during the time of Tina Monzon-Palma.
He first took on the duty as the station's health and roving reporter. Barely six months after joining the network, Mr. Francisco won the DOH award for best health reporting on AIDS issues. He will later collect two more health awards. He was nominated for best reporter of the year during the 2005 KBP Golden Dove Awards. The Malacanang Press Corps also gave him a citation for being a blogger.
He presently covers the presidential beat (Malacanang) but before this assignment, he was also assigned in the two legislative beats (Senate and Congress). As the station's political correspondent, he covered political personalities like various legislative leaders (JDV, Manuel Villar) Corazon Aquino, The Marcoses, FVR, Joseph Estrada, President Arroyo and the first family (plus cabinet officials).
He is also the most traveled reporter of News5, with assignments that brought him around the country (for special reports and election/campaign coverage), also in North America (UN, White House, Filipino Community, Tournament of Roses Parade, Michael Rey Aquino), Europe (The Vatican, Filipino communities in Italy and Spain) and Asia (China and Thailand).
He has been tapped as one of the anchor substitutes for Cherie Mercado, for Amelyn Veloso (for Big News) and for Martin Andanar (for Sentro). He also sometimes anchors ABC News Update.
He has produced documentaries for the station (Kontak 5, Frontlines, Yearender Specials, SONA specials and other special coverage of events) and has hosted some of its news segments like Child and Health, Banat Buto and more recently: SIDETRACKED (Sentro/TEN) where he presents the news or goings on in the World Wide Web.
Jove is also a blogger and maintains his site BY JOVE! which was recently ranked among the top blogs in the Philippine blogging community aside from being nominated in the first ever Philippine Blog Awards.
Aside from this, he also dabbles in writing for the print media as a contributor.
(Jove is a KBP member, an NUJP member and an officer of the Malacanang Press Corps) (Mr. Francisco also attended the advocacy training program of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and has attended various journalism related seminars including a refresher course conducted by The Probe foundation.)
Mr. Francisco's name and blog was mentioned (by then Rep. Gilbert Remulla) during the hearings at the lower house on the Hello Garci controversy, specifically about the CD burning of the two discs that Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye presented during a press briefing. Bunye denied he allowed reporters to get copies of the discs.
