Joseba Garmendia Elorriaga (born 4 October 1985 in Basauri, Biscay) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Girona FC in the Spanish second division, as a midfielder.
A product of Athletic de Bilbao's famed youth system, Garmendia made his first team debuts in 2006–07's first matchday, in a 1–1 local derby with Real Sociedad. During his three-year professional spell with the Basque, he never appeared in more than 18 La Liga games.
In late July 2009, after having appeared sporadically during his first three professional seasons, Garmendia bought out the remaining year of his contract and moved to CD Numancia in the second division, in a 2+1 link. Former Athletic teammate Iñigo Vélez also made the move.[1]
