José Guillermo Cortines (born December 5, 1973) is a Dominican actor and singer who is involved in films, telenovelas, musical theatre and television. He currently lives in Miami and is better known for his role as Mauricio Montiel from the Telemundo's "El Rostro de Analía" and for his role of Osvaldo Guerra in the internationally acclaimed Más Sabe el Diablo. He also was the host of the beauty pageants of Miss Dominican Republic 2002 and Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2004. He also played an important role in the movie La Fiesta del Chivo[1]

Biography

Jose guillermo studied in Santo Domingo at Colegio San Judas Tadeo, and at "Centro de Enseñanza El Buen Pastor". He graduated at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) in 1996 from Graphic Design and Publicity. He took singing lessons with Frank Ceara a singer from the Dominican Republic and also with María Remolá.

Career

He started his artistic career playing guitar in rock bands. In the early 90', he enters television as hostes in many programs, "Sin la Muela en Vivo" bradcasted by "Mango TV" channel owened Juan Luis Guerra and also he hosted "Cocoloco Internacional", "Boulevard 37", "Bureo Café" y otros. He played in the popular TV miniseries "Hasta que la Muerte nos Separe", "Cuando llama el Amor", "El Planeta" y "Apartamento 402" for the weekly program of Mariasela Alvarez "Esta Noche Mariasela". He also did Paraíso (serie de TV) which was aired in Spain.

In 1997, his roles in the theater made him very popular. Under the direction of the producer Nuryn Sanlley, he played the role of Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever, "LP Mision Disponible", y The Sound of Music. In 1999, worked in the musicals Los Tres Mosqueteros,La Pinky, Grease.

2003 worked with producer Amaury Sánchez, in "Sonido para una Imagen" and in 2005 in ¨Disco Forever¨. Other plays in which he appeared are La Bella y la Bestia "Los Piratas de Barba Negra" and "Una Fiesta Inolvidable". In 2008 he played Marius Pontmercy in "Los Miserables". He played the character Osvaldo Guerra in Telemundo's Más Sabe El Diablo.[2]

He received an award for his role in Tropico with José Luis Rodríguez ¨El Puma¨, and also from the Magazine Carteles de Miami.[3] Esta novela fue transmitida por Antena Latina en República Dominicana y por Univision en Estados Unidos.

Films

In 2006 he had a role in the Dominican film, "Tres al Rescate".[4]

He was Antonio de la Maza in the film La Fiesta del Chivo based in the novel of Mario Vargas Llosa.[5] 2004 worked in "Negocios son Negocios"[6] y Los Locos También Piensan.[7]

Present

2009 trabajó en la novela El rostro de Analía de Telemundo hace el papel de Mauricio (Mauri) Montiel - Hermano mayor de Daniel y tío de Adrianita. Más Sabe el Diablo como el fiscal Osvaldo Guerra y en el rol protagonico en Amores de luna como Javier Arenas para Telemundo. También participó en el elenco de Sacrificio de Mujer para Venevisión interpretando a Marcos Castillo y en Eva Luna para Univisión con el papel de Bruno Lombardi.

His parents are José Rafael Cortines Cajarvilles and María Evelina Dominguez de Cortines. His been married since 2006 with actriz and presenter Dominique Bonnelly.
