The Rt. Rev. John Holden was a missionary of the Anglican Church.[1]

Biography

He was born in 1882 and educated at Durham University [2] He was ordained in 1907 [3] and went to work for the CMS in China, rising in time to be an Archdeacon. In 1923 he became Bishop of Kwangsi-Hunan [4] and was translated to Szechwan in 1933.[5] Returning to England in 1938 he became Vicar of St Budock and Archdeacon of Cornwall. 6 years later he became a Residentiary Canon at Truro Cathedral and in 1947 he resigned as Archdeacon.[6] He died on 14 August 1949.[7]
