John Gabriel Murray

John Gabriel Murray was an Anglican priest [1] in the mid 20th century.

He was born in 1901 [2] and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge[3]. He was ordained after a period of study at Bishop’s College Cheshunt[4] in 1925. His first posts were curacies at St Mark’s Regent's Park[5] and St Gabriel, Pimlico [6] after which he was Perpetual Curate at All Saints, Hampton[7]. He was then Vicar of St Francis[8], Isleworth[9] before becoming Provost[10] of St Mary's Cathedral, Glasgow.[11]. In 1944[12] he became Vicar of St Mary’s, Hendon [13] and then in 1952 of St Mary the Virgin, Eynesbury[14]. From 1959 to 1970 he was at All Saint’s Glencarse.[15] He retired to Pittenweem and died in 1973.[16]
