John E. Flynn was a former mayor of Yonkers, New York and New York State Senator. A Republican, he was elected to two terms as Yonkers Mayor in 1961 and 1965. In 1966, Flynn was elected to the New York State Senate, representing the 34th district and then, after redistricting, the 35th district. Flynn's district covered lower Westchester County and tiny portion of the north Bronx.[1] Flynn did not seek re-election in 1986, and he was succeeded by Nicholas Spano.
