Dr. JoMei Chang is presently the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vitria Technology, Inc. She has also contributed to the founding of TIBCO Software and QilinSoft. She is the inventor of the very first trading systems, where she served as vice president and general manager, and developed the first digital trader workstation, which revolutionized Wall Street access to real-time financial information.
Dr. Chang was named a leading CEO by Fortune Magazine [1] and an Entrepreneur of the Year by BusinessWeek.[2]

Born in Taiwan, Dr. Chang was accepted into the prestigious National Chiao Tung University where she received a B.S. in Electric Engineering in 1974.
Dr. Chang was awarded a research scholarship at Purdue University, graduating with a M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Database Management. In 2004, Purdue University honored her with the Outstanding Electrical & Computer Engineer Award.[3]
After Purdue, Dr. Chang joined AT&T Bell Laboratories as a Senior Research Scientist. One of the first female researchers in the computer science laboratory, Dr. Chang invented and patented[4] the “reliable multicast protocol,” which is still routinely taught in graduate courses and research labs.
In 1984, Dr. Chang joined the fledgling start-up Sun Microsystems, Inc. as an engineer in the new Network File System group.
In 1986, Dr. Chang became a member of the founding team at Teknekron Software Systems (now TIBCO Software), where she served as vice president and general manager. Dr. Chang invented the first digital trader workstation, which revolutionized Wall Street access to real-time financial information.
In 1994, Dr. Chang and Dr. Dale Skeen founded Vitria Technology a leader in global Business Process Management (BPM) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). After gaining some of the largest names in telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, and insurance as customers, Dr. Chang led Vitria’s highly successful Initial Public Offering in 1999.
In 2003, Dr. Chang went to China and founded QilinSoft[5], to focus on the introduction of integration and BPM technology to China. Dr. Chang still serves as the head of Qilinsoft.
In 2007, together with co-founder Dr. Dale Skeen, Dr. Chang returned to the role of Vitria CEO and privatized the company to focus it on what she believed was the emerging Operational Intelligence opportunity.
Dr. Chang is married to Dr. Dale Skeen. Her hobbies include travel, classical architecture, and garden design. Her residences have been featured in the HGTV cable-television network[6].
