Jiaoshan

Jiāo Shān (Chinese: 焦山) is a district of the city of Zhenjiang in southwestern Jiangsu Province, China and a National AAAA designated tourism area. 71 meters above sea level[1], the area lies next to the Yangtze River and takes it name from Jiao Guang (焦光) who lived in the area during the final years of the Han Dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE). Jiaoshan is home to the Dinghui Temple (定慧寺), called the Shanguo Temple (焦山山裹寺) in ancient times as well as a a large collection of four hundred or more ancient stone tablets known as the Baomo Xuan (宝墨轩) or Jiaoshan Beilin (焦山碑林), a collection that ranks first in Southern Jiangsu. One of these, the Yihe Ming (瘗鹤铭) was inscribed by the Han Dynasty "Sage of Calligraphy" Wang Xizhi.[2]
