Jhargram subdivision
Jhargram subdivision (Bengali: ঝাড়গ্রাম মহকুমা), is a subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Jhargram municipality and eight community development blocks: Binpur–I, Binpur–II, Jamboni, Jhargram, Gopiballavpur–I, Gopiballavpur–II, Nayagram and Sankrail. The eight blocks contain 79 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Jhargram.
Area
Apart from the Jhargram municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 79 gram panchayats under eight community development blocks: Binpur–I, Binpur–II, Jamboni, Jhargram, Gopiballavpur–I, Gopiballavpur–II, Nayagram and Sankrail.[1] There is no urban area under these eight blocks.[2]
Blocks
Binpur–I block
Rural area under Binpur–I block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Andharia, Binpur, Lalgarh, Sijua, Baita, Dahijuri, Nepura, Belatikri, Dharampur and Ramgarh.[1] Binpur and Lalgarh police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Lalgarh.[4]
Binpur–II block
Rural area under Binpur–II block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Banspahari, Bhulaveda, Kanko, Shimulpal, Belpahari, Ergoda, Sandapara, Bhelaidiha, Harda and Shilda.[1] Binpur, Lalgarh and Belpahari police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Belpahari.[4]
Jamboni block
Rural area under Jamboni block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Chinchra, Dubra, Kapgari, Parihati, Chilkigarh, Gidhni, Kendadangri, Dharsa, Jamboni and Lalbandh.[1] Jamboni police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Gidhni.[4]
Jhargram block
Rural area under Jhargram block consists of 13 gram panchayats, viz. Aguiboni, Dudhkundi, Patashimul, Shalboni, Bandhgora, Lodhasuli,Naharia. Radhanagar, Chandri, Manikpara, Sapdhara, Chubka, Nedabahara and Sardiha.[1] Jhargram police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Jhargram.[4]
Gopiballavpur–I block
Rural area under Gopiballavpur–I block consists of seven gram panchayats, viz. Alampur, Gopiballavpur, Saria, Shashrha, Amarda, Kendugari and Satma.[1] Beliabera and Gopiballavpur police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Chatinasole.[4]
Gopiballavpur–II block
Rural area under Gopiballavpur–II block consists of seven gram panchayats, viz. Beliabera, Kharbandhi, Nota, Tapshia, Chorchita, Kuliana and Pet Bindhi Kalinja , taghora. [1] Beliabera police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Beliabera.[4]
Nayagram block
Rural area under Nayagram block consists of 12 gram panchayats, viz. Ara, Baranegui, Chandrarekha, Malam, Baligeria, Berajal, Jamirapal, Nayagram, Barakhakri, Chandabilla, Kharikamathani and Patina.[1] Nayagram police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Baligeria.[4]
Sankrail block
Rural area under Sankrail block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Andhari, Khudmorai, Pathra, Sankrail, Chhatri, Kultikri, Ragrah, Dhanghori, Laudaha and Rohini.[1] Sankrail police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Rohini.[4]
Legislative segments
As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:[5]
- The area under the Jhargram municipality, the Binpur–I block and four gram panchayats under the Jhargram block — Bandhgora, Manikpara, Radhanagar and Sapdhara — will together form the Jhargram assembly constituency of West Bengal.
- The other nine gram panchayats under the Jhargram block will be part of the Gopiballavpur assembly constituency, which will also contain the area under the Sankrail block and four gram panchayats under the Gopiballavpur–II block — Beliabera, Kharbandhi, Pet Bindhi and Tapshia.
- The other three gram panchayats under the Gopiballavpur–II block, the whole area under the Gopiballavpur–I block and the Nayagram block will together form the Nayagram assembly constituency.
- Area under the Binpur–II block and the Jamboni block will define the domain of the Binpur assembly constituency.
- The Nayagram constituency and the Binpur constituency will be reserved for Scheduled tribes (ST) candidates.
- All the four constituencies will be assembly segments of the Jhargram (Lok Sabha constituency), which will be reserved for ST candidates.
