Jewar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

It is located in the suburbs of Greater Noida and is about 60 km. from Noida. Jewar is situated on the northeast bank of the Yamuna River. It is located between 28.13° North latitude and 77.55° East longitude at a height of 195 metres (639 feet) above mean sea level.
History records that the town was named after the sage Maharshi Jaawali. In the west of Jewar at a distance of 1 km. is an ashram and an old temple of the Maharshi. Other temples in the town is the Devi Mandir and the Daau ji Mandir famous for the Dau ji Mela held every year in the month of September.
According to the Indian census report published in 2001, a population of 26,950 was recorded. Males account for 53% of the population and females account for 47% of the population. In Jewar, 20% of the population is less than six years of age. The census report throws light on the literacy rate of the town which is 48%. This is obviously much lower than the national average literacy rate which is 59.5%. To be specific, the male literacy rate is 57% and the female literacy rate is 37%.
It is located in the outskirts of Greater Noida,[1] the district headquarters are located in New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) itself. It is about 60 km (37 mi) away from Noida, and one can come via Dankaur, Rabupura. An eight-lane Yamuna(Taj) Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra,165 Km, via Jewar, Taj Special Economic Zone, Taj International Airport, Night Safari and Formula 1 Racing Track is proposed and expected to come soon. Jaypee Group has already started the work for Taj Expressway now so called Yamuna Expressway and a site office has been set up near Dudhera village. This whole district including Noida/Greater Noida is said to be one of the most fast developing areas of India. Vaina is a notable village situated 5 kms east of Jewar. Vaina comes in Aligarh District but has daily interaction with Jewar for transportation, vegetables and other daily needs. Anil Talan, The UP spokesperson and top brass of Bhartiya Kisan Union(BKU) also belongs to Vaina and is very active, but not limited to, in Jewar and Tappal area. Before relignment of Jewar to Gautam Budh Nagar, it was part of Bulandshahr district of U.P.
Jewar is mainly connected to other Major sites through roads and rail network. People commute to Delhi by rail from Palwal, Khurja and Vear. Khurja is around 35 KM from Jewar and Palwal is around 28 Km away. Palwal is main Annaj Mandi and farmers go there to sell their crops. Palwal is city of Haryana, Initially part of Faridabad district but from 2008 , Palwal is a separate district. Some state bus also run 2 times a day to Greater Noida District center.
Yamuna expressway was previously known as Taj Expressway. The development work on the expressway is going in full swing simultaneously at many places between Noida and Agra. Initially the service lane from Greater Noida Pari chowk to Dankaur has been completed. This expressway is about to be completeed till the end of year 2011(As claimed by local contarctors).
Jewar dominated by gujjars is situated a few kilometres northeast from the bank of the Yamuna River. In the west is Haryana state. Jewar itself is a Tehsil, and well connected to many tehsils and districts by road namely Khurja, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, Khair, Aligarh and Palwal (District - Faridabad in Haryana).
