In the first episode of the season, Lawson earned a spot in the house as he defeated James Bryan via armbar after 1:45 of the first round.[3]

Lawson then faced UFC veteran Jason Dent for a spot in the semi finals. Lawson had the better of the first round, but was eventually defeated via anaconda choke in the second round.

Outside of the UFC, Lawson lost via knockout before recording two submission victories.
