Javito debuted for Barça's first team in a UEFA Champions League match with Shakhtar Donetsk in 2002. However, he was unable to become a regular first team player at the club; this was due in part to a long period of injury as a result of thrombosis.[1]
Javito joined Aris in Summer 2006, rather as first Spanish acquisition of the time, as a result of great relationships to Spanish transfer market that famous Spanish agent and ex-collaborator in Aris, Manel Ferrer had.
At the beginning of season 2006/07 Javito immediately established himself into starting XI impressing Aris fans by his afore-mantioned exlosiveness.
As far as Aris' career is concerned, his most notable moments are a great 4:0 win over AEK FC in the post-season 2008 play-offs, netting 2 goals and his away goal at Zaragoza (on October 4, 2007), securing his team the first and historic UEFA Cup 2007/08 group stage qualification.
Besides, during the season, proved several times that even when his attacking team-mates were not found in best day, he would score important goals deciding the match outcomes.
Firstly signed a 2-year contract. Then, after good performances at the late stages of season 2007/08 where he generally had not been a starter under Dušan Bajević, finally earnt himself a contract extension of another 3 years (2011) for approximate annual wages of 180.000 euros, as some close sources reported.
Javito started the season 2008/09 brightly in a high scoring fashion, showing great individual form at the beginning of the season by scoring the winning goal against Olympiacos (1:0, October 26, 2008) and breaking the 10 year record of invincibility that Olympiakos had held at Aris' own stadium.
On September 17, 2010 Javito scored the winning goal against Atlético Madrid – holders of the Europa League title, in Aris' 1-0 victory. October 4, he scored against PAOK in Toumpa, a great goal that gave Aris the win with 1:0. He was also announced MVP of 5th matchday of Greek Superleague.
Javito is known for his explosiveness, quickness, and dribbling ability.[2]
Javito married his fiancée Isabel in summer 2008, while Javito was playing football in Thessaloniki and his fiancée was still living in Spain. In the same year Javito became a father with the birth of his daughter, Sophia. He subsequently dedicated a goal which he scored in the season 2008/09 opener against Levadiakos to her. On 22nd December 2009, Javito's second daughter, Naia was born.
