Jasdan (Gujarati: જસદણ) is a city and a municipality in Rajkot district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Geography

Jasdan is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 193 metres (633 feet). Ghela Somnath Temple is situated in Jasdan.Jasdan is the biggest Taluka in Rajkot district and has 102 villages.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Jasdan had a population of 80,000. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jasdan has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 60%. In Jasdan, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. Geograhically it is the heart of the Mandav hills from where majority of rivers of saurashtra gets originated and flows to Arabian sea and Gulf of kutchh and Gulf of khambhat and where two major rivers of saurashtra peninsula gets originated namely the Aji river and the Bhadar river and of-course with their tributaries like Nyari,Budhanpari,Hadariyo,Gondali and many more streams.
