Jan Engelbert Tatengkeng (October 19, 1907 – March 6, 1968) was an Indonesian poet from the Pujangga Baru era. He was also the fourth Prime Minister of the State of East Indonesia.

Jan Engelbert Tatengkeng was first educated in a primary school named HIS (Hollandsch-Inlandsche School, Dutch Native School) in Manganitu. Then he continued his study to Christelijk Middagkweekscool, or Christian Normal School in Bandung. Then he moved to Surakarta, Central Java, to enter a Christian Teacher's College. Here, he learned a lot about Tachtigers, a Dutch literature, which later influenced most of his work.[1]
Most of Jan's work are influenced by Tachtigers, Christianity, and God. His famous poetry collection was "Rindu Dendam" (Longing For Revenge). It contains 32 poems, and was first published in 1934. He also published his poems in magazines, and his other works include proses and a drama.[1]
