General James Robertson Craufurd was a senior British Army officer.
Crauford was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards.[1] He was Commander of the Brigade of Guards during the Crimean War.[2] He then became Major General commanding the Brigade of Guards in 1861.[3] He was promoted to Lieutenant General in 1863[4] and to General in 1871;[5] he retired in 1877.[6]
He became Colonel of the 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot in 1864[7] and then of the 91st (Argyllshire Highlanders) Regiment of Foot in 1870.[8]
He lived at Princes Gardens in London.[2]
He married Elizabeth Georgiana Harriett Cavendish.
