Jamai is a city and a municipality in Chhindwara district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Jamai is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 748 metres (2454 feet).
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Jamai had a population of 22,426. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jamai has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. In Jamai, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The first step to famous Chhota Mahadev pilgrimage is supposed to be located in Jamai (the place where the step is located is known as Junnardeo – a part of Jamai). Pilgrims cross seven hills (famously called Saat Pahadiyan) to reach Chhota Mahadev. Its also famous for a religious fair held every year for 15 Days on "Maha Shivaratri".
