Jahedpur is a village in the southeastern part of Chhatak Upazila in the Sunamganj District of the Sylhet Division in Bangladesh. The population of Jahedpur is over 3,000, and the percentage of education is 60% in this village.

Infrastructure and economy

There is one primary school that is over 110 years old, a secondary school, one Dhakil madrasah and one hafizia madrasah, a post office, two bazaars, three mosques and also the Jahedpur and Revenue Office. A primary school for girls in Jahedpur was established by the Pakistani government in 1961.

The majority of villagers depend on agriculture. In addition there are some professional and business persons settled in the town of Sylhet, and abroad in London, the United States and the Middle East. As the village is 14 miles from Chhatak city centre, its communication has improved.

Revenue Office

During the period of Zamidary a Kachary was established in Jahedpur by Babu Upendro Narayon Mazumder and others who were the Zamider ( Land lord) of Jahidpur Mauza. The Kachari was used for collection of land revenue of Zamidars. After acquired the Zamidary by the Government of East Pakistan vide The State Acquisition & Tenancy Act. 1950, a Tahshil office was established in Radhanogor of Gobindogonj for collection of land tax.The old name of this office was Jahidpur Tahshil Office. Now it is officially known as Union Land Office Jahidpur. Actually this office is being used for collection of land tax of Dular Bazar Union and Soila-Afzalabad Union. A Union Land Assistant Officer, Two Union Land Sub-Assistant Officers and Three Peons are serving in this office.
