Jadea Kelly

Jadea Kelly is a folk musician from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. She has released two LPs and two EPs to date. Kelly's 2008 full-length album, Second Spring, produced by Ross Hayes Citrullo, was honoured with the "best country" award at the 2008 Toronto Independent Music Awards.[1][2]

Kelly was given considerable exposure after collaborating with fellow Canadians Protest the Hero. She performed backing vocals on three songs for the band's concept album Kezia, taking on the role of Kezia. This resulted in an appearance in the music video for "The Divine Suicide of K.", and numerous live appearances with the band. She is also featured on their song "Hair-Trigger" from their 2011 release Scurrilous.

In 2010 she released Eastbound Platform, which she recorded with producer David Baxter. Since its release she was nominated for New Emerging Songwriter at the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Awards CFMA and recorded by CBC Radio LIVE at the 2010 Stewart Park Folk Festival. The album featured songs written by Kelly as well as collaborations with other artists. The song "The Sound" is a cowrite between David Baxter and popular Canadian songwriter Justin Rutledge. Other Canadian songwriters who were covered on the album include Jack Marks' (Hazel) and Lori Yates (Walking Wounded).[3]

In the end of 2009 Jadea began touring more regularly and has since performed shows with Ramblin Jack Elliot, Melissa McClelland, Luke Doucet, Ariana Gillis, Catherine MacLellan, Justin Rutledge and Jack Marks.[4]
