Jaberg is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Jaberg is first mentioned in 1259 as Jagberc.[3]
Jaberg has an area, as of 2009[update], of 1.32 km2 (0.51 sq mi). Of this area, 0.68 km2 (0.26 sq mi) or 51.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.3 km2 (0.12 sq mi) or 22.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.24 km2 (0.093 sq mi) or 18.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.06 km2 (15 acres) or 4.5% is either rivers or lakes.[4]
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 6.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.5%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 7.6% of the area 18.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.8% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 34.8% is used for growing crops and 13.6% is pastures, while 3.0% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.[4]
The municipality is located on the hilly left bank of the Aare river. It includes the villages of Hinter and Vorder Jaberg. The former exclave of Stoffelsrüti became part of Noflen in 1948.
Jaberg has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 259.[1] As of 2007[update], 2.0% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 1.2%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (97.4%), with Italian being second most common (0.9%) and Portuguese being third (0.9%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 40% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (20.4%), the local small left-wing parties (14.4%) and the FDP (11%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 24.3% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 63.4% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 12.3%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Jaberg about 87.5% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either university or a Fachhochschule).
Jaberg has an unemployment rate of 1.07%. As of 2005[update], there were 17 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 6 businesses involved in this sector. 2 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 2 businesses in this sector. 39 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 5 businesses in this sector.[5] The historical population is given in the following table:[3]
