Jabal Thawr

Jabal Thawr (Arabic: جبل ثور‎) (lit Mount of Bull) is the name of a mountain in Saudi Arabia, located in the lower part of Mecca to the south of the district of Misfalah[1].

Cave

The Mountain is notable for housing a cave known as Ghar al-Thawr (lit. Cave of the Bull), in which Muhammad and Abu Bakr hid from their persecuters, the Banu Quraish, during the migration to Medina. For the hadith, see Abu Bakr#Migration to Medina. The cave is still visited by a very small number of the pilgrims while observing the Hajj—the small number is due to its distance from Mecca.
