MKEK began development of the MKEK in 2004. It made its public appearance in 2007 during an IDEF 2007 exhibition in Ankara, Turkey.[3] JNG-90 prototypes were seen equipped with German-made Schmidt & Bender telescopes.[4]
The JNG-90, according to MKEK, was said to be accurate in terms of shooting 0.3 MOA groups at 100 meters range.[1][3] Picatinny railings are provided on the foreend and on the upper receiver. The rifle also has an adjustable butt.
