Itsamk'anahk II (May 22, 626 - November 15, 686) was a king of Maya city Piedras Negras in Guatemala. He had many monuments.

He is also called Ruler 2. He reigned 639-686, as a successor of his father.[1]

Biography

Birth

Itsamk'anahk was born on May 22, 626. His parents were king K'inich Yo'nal Ahk I and Lady Bird Headdress.[2]

Reign

He acceded in on April 12, 639.[3] He was just a boy when he became a king.

Among his military achievements was a victory over Santa Elena in 662, when he was in his thirties. He recorded another victory in 669.

He received a number of ko'haw helmets, a type of plated headdress associated with Teotihuacan.[4]

Death

He died on November 15, 686.[5]

Family

Itsamk'anahk's wife was Lady White Bird. They were parents of his successor, K'inich Yo'nal Ahk II, who was a father of Lady Huntan Ahk.[6]
