The Istanbul Tanpınar Literature Festival, named after the famous modernist Turkish poet, novelist, essayist, and critic Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, is an international literary event held in the city of Istanbul to focus on a variety of genres, and to bring together writers, publishers, literary translators, critics and journalists for a series of inspirational encounters. Tanpınar is the author of famous novels such as A Mind at Peace, Song in Mahur, 'Waiting in the Wings', 'The Institute of Synchronized Clocks', and 'Woman in the Moon'.

Attracting many important international literary figures, its 4 days program, starting at the end of October, now features many events including panels, workshops and concerts.
The festival is planning to includes events for children and young people.
The theme for year 2009 inaugural festival is "City and Time".
