Islampur (Bengali: ইসলামপুর) is a municipality and head quarters of Islampur subdivision in Uttar Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal.[1]

Islampur is located at . It has an average elevation of 53 metres (174 feet). It has fine weather to live, has all the season.minimum temperature 12 degree and maximum 38 degree.
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Islampur had a population of 52,766. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Islampur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 57%. In Islampur, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

During the formation of the town, some of the influential people of this area had contributed a lot by gifting their lands. Like the family of MLA (Member of Legislative Assembley) Abdul Karim Choudhury (Yousuf Choudhury) had gifted the land for Islampur High School and many such examples are there. Islmapur High School and Islampur Girls High School are among the assets of Islampur town.
One of the famous schools in northern Bengal, the Scholar is on the outskirt of the town. The school was established in 2000 and is affiliated to I.C.S.E.
