Interisland Airlines is an airline based in Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, Manila, the Philippines.[1] It operates domestic scheduled services and passenger and cargo domestic and international charter services. Its main base is Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila.[2]

The airline began operating as an air taxi company, Interisland Air Services, in 1986. In 2004 it acquired two 36-seater Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft and in December 2004 started operations as Interisland Airlines. It is owned by Consuelo Helgen (President), Gloria Belen, Luc Helgen (Chairman), Lydia Dizon (Chief Financial Officer) and Marcelo Pervera and has 36 employees (at March 2007).[2]
Interisland Airlines operates scheduled domestic services to the following destinations (as of March 3, 2009):
On 19 July 2005, Interisland Airlines aircraft RP-C2803, a Yakovlev 40A aircraft, arriving at Caticlan airport touched down short of runway 06. A tire burst as it struck the raised lip of the runway. When removing the airplane from the runway the undercarriage collapsed, causing substantial damage to the aircraft. The aircraft was occupied by 3 crew and 20 passengers. There were no fatalities.[3]
On 2 November 2006, Interisland Airlines aircraft RP-C2695, a Yakovlev 40A aircraft, arrived in Caticlan airport to pick up a group of tourists. On landing at runway 06, the left main gear tire burst. The aircraft started to swerve to the left, towards the apron were a DHC-7 had just started engines. The crew avoided collision with the DHC-7. After passing the apron, the Yak-40 drifted sideways entering the grass on the left side of the runway. Because of lateral forces, the right main gear collapsed. The aircraft came to rest on the edge of the runway. After three hours the airplane was towed off the runway into the grass. On arrival, the aircraft had no passengers. There were no fatalities.[4]
On 21 April 2010, an Antonov An-12 crashed in a rice field in Pampanga, Philippines, killing three crew members on board.[5][6]
