Oiniades (Greek: Οινιάδες) is a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Messolonghi, of which it is a municipal unit.[1] In 2001, it had a population of 10,227. The seat of the municipality was in Neochori Mesolongiou. The first mayor ever of the municipality is Gerasimos M. Nestoratos who served as a mayor the years 1998-2002 (first election) and 2002-2006 (second election). The last mayor of Oiniades was Antonios Aletras (elected 2006). The name dates back to the ancient times as an ancient city and was founded by Alcmeon (great grandfather of Apollo). It was also strategically important and it was known in ancient times as Oeniadae.
