Indravati River

Indravati River (Marathi: इन्द्रावती,Oriya: ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରାବତୀ ନଦୀ Telugu: ఇంద్రావతి నది) is a tributary of the Godavari River, located in central India. The river rises in the Eastern Ghats in Kalahandi Orissa, and flows west to join the Godavari, forming the boundary between Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states at places.

Overview

The Chitrakoot Falls is located on Indravati River, some 40 km from Jagdalpur(Chhattisgarh).

The Indravati is sometimes known as the "lifeline" of the Bastar District, one of the most green districts in India.

Indravati National Park and Tiger Reserves are located in the adjoining region of Chattisgarh state.

Most of the River Course is through dense forests of Bastar.
