Indeed.com is a metasearch engine for job listings launched in November 2004.[2] As a single-topic search engine, it is also an example of vertical search. The site aggregates job listings from thousands of websites, including job boards, newspapers, associations, and company career pages. Job seekers do not apply for jobs through Indeed; they simply see job postings. Applicants can then decide which jobs are of interest and then go to the corresponding sites to apply. Indeed is currently available in 53 countries. In October, 2010, Indeed.com slipped past Monster.com to become the largest job site in the United States.[3][4]

History

Indeed was co-founded by Paul Forster and Rony Kahan.[5] The company is privately held with investment from The New York Times Company, Allen & Company and Union Square Ventures.[6]

In 2005, Indeed launched their beta version of what they refer to as "pay-per-click job advertising network".[7] In addition to searching job postings, it also allows the occurrence of words therein to be plotted over time, ostensibly as an indicator of trends in the job markets.

Services

Services include job search, job trends, resume upload and storage, industry trends, salary search, job competition index, and website forums.
