Ilona
Ilona is a female given name of Hungarian origin, though uncertain etymology. It may have descended from the Magyar form of the Greek given name Helen, said to translate as "light".[1].
An alternative school of thought holds the name to be a Magyar (Hungarian) native word, the traditional name of the Queen of the Faries in Magyar myth.[2][3] A possible etymological root in the Hebrew word "Ilana," as in "oak tree," has yet to be proven.
Contemporary common diminutive forms are Ilonke and Ilike.
