Ilham and Wahy (Arabic: الإلهام و الوحي) are both names of a form of revelation in Islam. They are considered a lower form than Wahy. Historically, there have been attempts to distinguish between the two terms; however their usage in the Qur'an points to an interchangeability of the terms. Ilham is often used as the name for revelation experienced by a Wali. It is not considered flawless and is often rejected if in conflict with Sharia.
