Ikegobo or "alters to the hand" is a type of cylindrical votive object from the Benin Empire. Used as a cultural marker of an individual's accomplishments, Ikegobo are dedicated to the hand, where the Beninese considered all will for wealth and success to originate from. These commemorative objects are made of brass, wood, terracotta, or clay depending on the patron's hierarchical ranking.
