Igor (rus. Игорь, IPA: /'iɡərʲ/, ukr. Ігор (Ihor)) is a given name derived from the Norse name Ingvar, that was brought to ancient Rus' by the Norse Varangians, in the form Ingvar or Yngvar. Igor (son of the Varangian chief Rurik) conquered Kiev.
The name Igor's association with hunchbacked assistants has its origins in the Universal Studios horror films of the 1930s. See Igor (fictional character).
