Iddesleigh is a village in Devon, England.
The village is where author Michael Morpurgo lives. In his book Private Peaceful, Iddesleigh is the home of the protagonist, Tommo. It (and Etaples in France) is the main setting for the book.
Iddesleigh was also home to the Scottish born poet; Seán Rafferty who was a great friend and inspiration to Morpurgo and he also ran the pub here for many years.
The village pub is called the Duke of York which serves a range of food, and a craft shop opposite called Arts & Crafts that sells items made by local Devon artists. The pub and craft shop are slightly hidden from the main road being behind some terraced cottages, a few yards' walk along a side street. The pub's facade was used in the BBC television series Down to Earth. In the series, however, the pub is called the Black Bull.
