Ian McDonald Campbell (born 1922) is a British civil engineer. He was born in Edinburgh in 1922 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.[1][2] Campbell was a member of the British Army's Engineer and Railway Staff Corps, an unpaid, volunteer unit that provides technical expertise to the armed forces. He was initially a Major in that unit, receiving promotion to Lieutenant Colonel on 3 May 1970 and to Colonel on 1 August 1974.[3][4] On 10 January 1977 Campbell was appointed a member of the British Railways Board, to sit until 9 January 1982.[5] Campbell was a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order and was elected president of the Institution of Civil Engineers for the November 1981-2 session.[1]
