Founded in 1918, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions represents over 4000 members, in 93 countries, as a collective way to increase operations while maintaining professional standards. The group is perhaps best known for the IAAPA Attractions Expo, its annual conference and trade show.
- Events: The organization runs the IAAPA Attractions Expo, Asian Attractions Expo, Euro Attractions Show, as well as leadership and safety conferences.
- Education and training
- Safety: Promoting the development of safety standards, working with ASTM International.
- Government relations: Tracks federal and state legislation in the United States, related to its members' activities, and allows members to pool political contributions.
- Resources: FUNWORLD Magazine, crisis plan templates, a blog, etc.
The group runs a hall of fame, service awards, etc.
The organization represents all styles of amusement park, including theme parks, museums, and mini-golf courses.
Most members of the organization support the Give Kids The World program.
