The album debuted at number 86 on the Billboard 200[3] with over 6,000 copies sold in the first week.
The album overall received a very negative reception. An NME writer gave the album a negative review, stating "even if I caught Prince Harry and Gary Glitter adorned in Nazi regalia defecating through my grandmother’s letterbox I would still consider making them listen to this album too severe a punishment".[4] Kerrang! also gave the album a negative review, stating that "I'm Not A Fan... boasts a self-aware title, but that's where all trace of intelligence ends." All Music Guide's review was slightly more positive, noting that although the album displays an "irresponsible attitude toward drinking, women, and songwriting", it also boasts "silly energy" and "some great ideas conceived in a high-school hallway".[5]
