History

Hpnotiq was created by Raphael Yakoby in 2001, a college dropout living with his parents on Long Island, New York, who, after seeing a blue perfume at Bloomingdale's, decided to create a blue liqueur.[1] Within a year, it was a popular drink in New York night clubs.[1]

The brand was originally distributed by Wingard Inc. of Great Neck, New York; in January 2003, Yakoby's trademark and the distribution rights were acquired by Heaven Hill Distilleries.[2] The brand earned Yakoby a reported $50 million.[1] Hpnotiq is bottled in France's Cognac region and the vodka is premium French and is distilled three times.

The growth of Hpnotiq began with Yakoby’s introduction of the liqueur to the stylish New York City night club scene, which toward the end of the 1990s embraced the introduction of premium vodkas and cognacs as sexy and sophisticated. Hpnotiq’s flavor and blue color and packaging fed off the energy of this popularity. Word of mouth spread as bartenders began to use the brand as an alternative ingredient in cosmopolitans and martinis.Hpnotiq quickly became the drink of choice for celebrities and has grown the fourth best-selling imported liqueur in the United States, according to Adams Beverage Media.

When Hpnotiq was first founded it gained widespread popularity among an urban audience,[3] but has since then become a female focused brand. Currently the brand is positioned towards females 21-35 and the girls' night out lifestyle.

As of late 2010, the brand has been getting a lot media attention for hosting events for celebrities such as Lauren Conrad, Khloe Kardashian, Ashley Greene, Soleil Moon Frye, and Carmen Electra. The brand was also included as a part of Alice + Olivia's S/S11 New York Fashion Week parties.

In June 2011, HPNOTIQ launched its first line extension, HPNOTIQ Harmonie. Its vibrant violet color and blend of infused berries, violets, lavender and premium spirits. on Tuesday, July 12, HPNOTIQ Harmonie officially launched at PH-D at the Dream Downtown in New York City. Hosted by Khloe Kardashian, the event garnered a significant amount of press. Reality Television stars Jonathan Cheban and Kelly Bensimon, as well as former NFL player Hank Baskett were also in attendance.[4]

They've adopted the slogan "Live Louder!"and are known for their unique and custom candy bars exemplified at their signature events.
