Bubbie Buzachero

Edward Dale "Bubbie" Buzachero (born June 13, 1981 in Livingston, Tennessee) is a minor league baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization. He was drafted by Toronto in the 23rd round of the 2002 amateur entry draft. He was traded by the Blue Jays to the Cleveland Indians for LHP Brian Tallet on January 17, 2006.

Collin DeLome

Collin DeLome (Born December 18, 1985 in Buna, Texas ) is a Minor League Baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros organization, currently playing for the Triple AAA Oklahoma City RedHawks. After an outstanding high school career at Buna High School Collin played his collegiate ball for Jim Gilligan at Lamar University, he was the Houston Astros third pick in the 2007 amateur entry draft.^[1] De Lome was the 2006 Southland Conference "Player and Hitter of the Year".^[2]

Lamar University

DeLome played three season for Lamar before entering the 2007 draft after his Junior season. Collin Found a home in the outfield after playing infield his high school career. Once adjusted to his new surroundings he would have a career most dream about. During his three years at Lamar Collin set season and career records at the plate. His 15 triples ranks first all time in school history. He set the single season record in 2005 with 9 triples. 2006 was his breakout year where he earned Southland Conference Player and Hitter of the Year awards. In 2006 he set five single season records. His .376 batting Average lead the team as well as 57 runs, 89 hits, 150 total bases and 237 at bats all were team highs. The 89 hits ranks him second in school history on the single season hits list. The 150 total bases tied the single season record and his 237 at bats ranks 4th in school history for a season. During the 2006 campaign he also managed to compile a 17 game hitting streak which ranks 4th all time in school history.

2007 Tri-City Vally Cats

Hit .300 with six homers and 28 RBIs in 65 games for Tri-City of the New York-Penn League.

2008 Lexington and Salem

DeLome split the season between Lexington of the South Atlantic League and Salem of the Carolina League, combining to hit .246 with 22 home runs and 71 RBIs over 129 ballgames. He homered in four straight games for Lexington, from April 16–20.

2009 Corpus Christi Hooks

DeLome spent the entire 2009 season at Double AA Corpus Christi hitting .255. A Texas League All-Star, DeLome showed his usual power-speed combination (20 homers, 15 steals).

2010 Round Rock Express

DeLome spent the entire 2010 season at Triple AAA Round Rock hitting .224 with 17 home runs 56 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.

Delino DeShields, Jr.

Delino Lamont DeShields, Jr. (born August 16, 1992) is a baseball player, and the son of former Major League Baseball player Delino DeShields. A center fielder and second baseman, he was drafted with the 8th pick overall by the Houston Astros in the 2010 MLB Draft.

Early days

DeShields, the eldest of his father's five children, was raised in the Atlanta area. He went to Woodward Academy where he played both baseball and football. He was recruited by the Georgia Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels for football before deciding to pursue baseball instead.^[4] He was also recruited by the LSU Tigers for baseball, but they only committed a half-scholarship to him due to his desire to play professionally. In his senior year at Woodward, he hit 9 home runs and batted .415, while stealing 29 bases.

Astros general manager Ed Wade has stated his intention to send DeShields to the rookie-level Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League once he is signed, with a transition to second base during the winter.^[5]

Scouting report

According to his 2010 MLB Draft scouting report, DeShields has "plus-plus speed" on the basepaths. He is good at hitting, with "the ability to hit line drives consistently". His power hitting his "marginal". His arm strength is "below-average, but it plays OK in the outfield", with "plus range". His fielding ability is good, with a soft-enough touch to play in the middle infield. His physical stature is compared to current Colorado Rockies prospect Eric Young, Jr.. While his speed and pedigree are listed as advantages, his primary disadvantages are his relative lack of power hitting and inconsistent effort. His official MLB Draft profile lists him as a center fielder.^[6]

Andrew Locke

Andrew Locke (born February 28, 1983 in Boston, Massachusetts) is a Minor League Baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros organization. From Boston College, he was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 19th Round (586th overall) of the 2005 amateur entry draft. He currently plays for the Class AAA Oklahoma City Redhawks, a Houston Astros affiliate.

Jiovanni Mier

Jiovanni Mier (born August 26, 1990) is a shortstop in the Houston Astros organization.

Mier was drafted by the Houston Astros with the 21st overall pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of Bonita High School in La Verne California. He was given a $1,358,000 signing bonus.

Brett Oberholtzer

Brett Oberholtzer (born July 1, 1989) is a professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization. Brett Oberholtzer stands at 6' 2" tall and weighs 230 pounds. Brett Oberholtzer currently plays for the Double-A Texas League.^[7]

The Braves drafted Brett Oberholtzer in the eighth round in 2008, from Seminole Community College in Florida.^[8] Oberholtzer, who was included in the Michael Bourn trade to the Braves, throws a 88-93 MPH fastball, a devastating changeup, slider, and a curveball. Baseball scouts consider Oberholtzer as a number 3 or 4 caliber starter.^[9]

Jason Stoffel

Jason Anthony Stoffel (born September 18, 1988 in Agoura, California) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.

On July 19, 2011, he was traded to the Houston Astros with Henry Sosa for Jeff Keppinger.^[10]

James Van Ostrand

James Van Ostrand (August 7, 1984 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Minor League Baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros organization. From Allan Hancock College and Cal Poly, he was selected by the Houston Astros in the 8th Round (249th overall) of the 2006 amateur entry draft, and currently plays for the Class AA Corpus Christi Hooks.
