Horace Dediu (1968) is an industry analyst with a focus on mobile phones and especially Apple Inc. He is known for his analysis of Apple's business strategy and predictions of their financials.[1] He is the host of 'The Critical Path' with Dan Benjamin on 5by5 and writes a blog at asymco.
He was born in Romania, then went to high school in Medford, Massachusetts when his parents emigrated. After obtaining an MS in Computer Engineering from Tufts University he received an MBA from Harvard.[2] He was a student of Clayton Christensen (who called him 'The smartest student I ever had'), and frequently cites Christensen in his podcasts and on his website.[3] He was an analyist for Nokia in Helsinki from Feb 2001 to Apr 2009, with responsibility for Research in Motion. From May 2009 to Apr 2010 he was Vice President of Business Development at Liquid Light. He founded asymco in April 2010. He also writes for the Harvard Business Review[4] and is often interviewed by other news sources as an Apple expert.[5][6]
