Hnahthial

Hnahthial is a census town in Lunglei district in the Indian state of Mizoram.

Demographics

As of 2001^[update] India census,^[1] Hnahthial had a population of 7123. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Hnahthial has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 80%. In Hnahthial, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Notable former residents of Hnahthial include:

• Jeje Lalpekhlua (born 1991), Indian footballer who currently plays for Pune F.C. in the I-League. He is being dubbed as the next Baichung Bhutia and is being dubbed as one of the brightest prospects for Indian football. He scored the only goal in a win against Afghanistan in the SAFF Cup group stage match in Bangladesh. He led the Indian U19 team to South Asian games in Sri Lanka. In the last group stage match he scored a hat trick against Pakistan in a 5-1 win. He also scored four goals in his first three senior appearances for the Indian national football team.
