Histiaea

Histiaea or Hestiaia may refer to:

Mythical figure:
- Histiaea, a daughter of Hyrieus, from whom the town of Histiaea, in Northern Euboea, was said to have derived its name^[1]^[2]

Placenames:
- Histiaea, the city in Euboea on the NW coast, at the mouth of Callas river, west of Dion. It occurs in Homer,^[3] who describes it as rich in vines and held by Abantes. During a revolt against Athens of Pericles, Histiaeans killed the crew of an Athenian ship and on the expulsion by the Athenians of Histiaeans, who withdrew to Macedonia, it was renamed Oreus, an Athenian colony.^[4]^[5] Histiaeotis was called the region around the city. Histiaeotis was also a Thessalian NW district.
- Histiaea, Athenian deme/township of Aegeis phyle/clan in Attica.
