Hinlopen Strait

Hinlopen Strait (Norwegian: Hinlopenstretet or Hinlopenstredet) is the strait between Spitsbergen and Nordaustlandet (North East Land) in Svalbard. It is 150 km long and 10–60 km broad. The strait is difficult to pass because of pack ice. It is believed to have been named after Thijmen Jacobsz Hinlopen.[1]
