Hila Elmalich was an Israeli fashion model[1] who died in 2007.[2] Represented by the Israeli branch of the Elite Model Management modeling agency,[2] she was once a famous fashion model in the country.[3]
On November 14, 2007,[4] Elmalich died weighing under 27 kilograms[2] (less than 60 pounds[4]) after years of fighting anorexia nervosa.[1] She was 33 years old.[2]
Immediately after her death, Israeli fashion photographer Adi Barkan initiated a worldwide campaign to "change the definition of beauty by encouraging models not be skinny".[2]
