Hi-5 (South African band)

Hi-5 is a boy band from Pretoria, South Africa. The original members comprised Niel Schoombee, Nicolaas Swart, Shaun van Staden, Dihan Slabbert, and JP Moggee. The current line up is Wynand Buitendag, Lee Scott, Renee Kruger, Nicolaas Swart and Niel Schoombee.

Their most recent album, Versoeking was released in 2006. The first single titled Versoeking, an Afrikaans language cover of Arash's "Temptation", helped the band to further cement their success on the South African music charts. They are also notable outside their home country for recording Afrikaans covers of Eurovision Song Contest entries. Among these are "Jy Is Die Een" (version of Elena Paparizou's "My Number One"), "Daai Liedje" (version of Sandra Oxenryd's "Through My Window"), "Die Twist" (version of Sidsel Ben Semmane's "Twist of Love") "`n Ewigheid" (version of Carola Häggkvist's "Invincible") and "Vergewe My Weer" (version of Fabrizio Faniello's "I Do"), all from their third album Versoeking.

In April 2007, Hi-5 had some limited success in Europe for 6 months on an international contract with the resort, Sonamor in Majorca, Spain. Since then, Hi-5 have showcased Afrikaans music in other parts of Europe. The band has since returned to South Africa with a new album and touring South Africa.
