Herpetogaster is an extinct monotypic genus of animal from the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale with a single species Herpetogaster collinsi.[1] Six specimens of Herpetogaster are known from the Greater Phyllopod bed, where they comprise less than 0.01% of the community.[2]
